Katy's Page This is when I was little.

This is Jacob and me search- ing for I don't know what in the back yard. It looks as if I found something though; it could be a grasshopper or worm. Jake is coming over to look at it--whatever it is. I kinda remember being brought home for the first time. Paul brought me in from the car and that's when I first saw mom. She was sitting in a lounger next to dad. Paul put me in mom's lap, and I got so many oohs and aahs, kisses from mom and dad, dad rubbed my ears, mom stroked my fur, and I knew I was loved. You have to admit I was very cute. I loved being outside, especially when I had someone to play with. Jake always played with me when he got to come over. Did I mention that Jake is mom's grandson? If I didn't, I'm telling you now. We grew up together--Jake is now a senior at Smithville High School, which is in Texas. When Jake wasn't around, Paul or mom would play ball with me. I loved to play ball. I had so many balls, I never knew which one to play with first. I had footballs, soccer balls, basketballs, squeaky balls, sparkly balls, plain balls--oh, I really had a lot of balls. I was taught to catch a ball when it was thrown. When I got bigger, I could run at my fastest speed, Paul would throw a ball, and I would catch it. That was really something to see. Mom said I looked like a golden streak running across the lawn. But, I certainly didn't look like that when dad wanted me to swim with him. I didn't like the water; there was too much of it. I preferred to swim in mom's bathtub where the water was warm and I had bubbles. Besides, mom always let me have a ball in the water with me. And, I always smelled so good when mom was through letting me play in the bubbly water. She would get a towel and dry me as much as possible, and then she would brush my hair all the while talking to me about how pretty I was and how much she loved me. Those were good days.
